Kiyoshi Sato is playing the Meinl-Weston CC-Tuba 2000

Mr. Kiyoshi Sato and his CC-Tuba 2000Mr. Kiyoshi Sato has a Bachelor of Music from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and has also studied in Tuba Performance Program at University of Southern California. He studied under Kiyoshi Oh-ishi, Ikumitsu Tado, Tommy Johnson, Roger Bobo and Jim Self. He won the second prize in the Japan Wind and Percussion Competition in 1986 (no first prize awarded).

Formerly tubist with Shinsei Japan Symphony Orchestra, since 1991 Kiyoshi has played with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. He has perfomed at New York Brass Conference in 1993 as a member of "SOLID BRASS (jazz & funk brass group), and he played as a guest player at the International Tuba Euphonium Conferences 1995 at Northwestern University (USA), 1997 at Riva Del Garda (Italy), 1998 at Minnesota University (USA), 1999 at Tubamania Sydney (Australia), 2001 at Lahati (Finland). He played Solo Recital at Tokyo in 2006.

An active freelance tubist in Japan, he has worked for all the major films, animations and recordings in Tokyo and he has also appeared as a soloist throughout Japan.

Mr. Sato teaches at Musashino School of Music and Senzoku Gakuen School of Music, works as a member of Tokyo Metropolitan Brass Quintet.
