19.10.99 On Tuesday, October 19th, 99 Jeff Funderburk visited Wenzel Meinl GmbH prior to his Japan tour to have a quick check-up of his 45S-LP F-Tuba and to pick up a flight case to protect it during the flight.
He chose the 2nd version where the Tuba (that is inside of its gig bag) fits into the case - that allows smart and easy travelling once one has reached the destination: The empty case stays in the hotel, and the Tuba can be carried conveniently within the gig bag.
Prof. Funderburk will be holding a masterclass in Tokyo on Saturday, Oct 23rd, 99 which is hosted by the Japanese Euphonium and Tuba Association (J.E.T.A.). On the 25th and 26th he will be teaching and rehearsing at the Hokkaido Women's University, followed by a lecture recital on Wednesday, Oct 20th. Another concert will be at Asahkawa on Friday, Oct 29th.
On this visit to Geretried Mr. Funderburk was accompanied by one of his students, Eugene Fabiero, who wanted to use the opportunity of studying in Germany to check out the new F-Tuba 45SLP for himself. It seems he also fell in love with the 45SLP...
There was still one difficult task left for Mr. Funderburk on that day: He had to choose the "least goofiest" photo that is to be used on his new poster which was difficult since they were all actually quite good...
