Meinl-Weston Euphonium 451 now also in use by Ulrich Haas:

Uli Haas 451Ulrich Haas plays with the Melton Tuba Quartet, as well as the Duisburger Sinfoniker and Deutsche Oper am Rhein. He is one of the leading Tuba players in Europe. One thing that does surprise his audiences and critics is Mr. Haas’s incredible ability on the Euphonium.

Ulrich Haas plays the Meinl-Weston 451 compensating Euphonium, both in his native Orchestras and the Melton Tuba Quartet – he does not use any specially adapted mouthpiece, and can (and does!) change between Tuba and Euphonium many times in one concert without any compromise to his performance whatsoever.

Here is what Uli Haas says about the Meinl-Weston 451compensating Euphonium:

„It has a well centered sound, easy response in high and low register and the intonation is easy to be controlled. I use it in the Melton Tuba Quartet for the first part, because it blends well with the tubas. In the symphony orchestra I use it as Tenortuba.“
